Welcome to the Carolina Corral!
Open Monday – Saturday

Take a relaxing ride along the shoreline of Coral Harbour in St. John, USVI. Amazing views await you with pictures on a coral strewn beach. Then walk in the water on a small sandy beach on the way back. Coral Harbour is mostly mangroves so we don’t have the long sandy beach to ride on. But, it’s still a beautiful ride and a great way to enjoy the island’s natural beauty. Beginners welcome with instruction provided and horses available for the more advanced rider!

The horseback rides are the main means of income for the yard, supporting the other rescues and unwanted animals including abandoned sheep and goats and donkeys injured in the wild. Rides can be scheduled as something special to do as a couple or as a family. It’s best not to wait till the day before you leave to ride, as anything could happen to make us one horse short, or inclimate weather.

Rides are bookable online via the “Book Now” button on this page where you can also check availability. They are one hour in length along the shoreline of Coral Bay, culminating on a beautiful rocky beach for pictures. Ride on a couple of small sandy beaches on the way back along the water and into the mangroves. They are in the afternoons by reservation, Monday – Saturday at 3pm and 5pm. Closed toed shoes and long pants or capris recommended for protection from brush and the saddle. I have long pants to borrow if you didn’t bring some with you. Weight limit is 240# with only one rider per group at this weight. Age limit is 8 years old on up with no double riding!

The 2025 St. John Virgin Islands Donkey Calendar is now available for pre-sale. This year I’ve chosen a family living in the wild with one of the babies born this year. Rayna with her mom Sunshine, is one of the few girl donkeys born on island, with the majority being boys. She had since been joined by two other girls and with an older girl, totaling four all together! For this year’s calendar I was fortunate to have the help of Christy Greene, a regular St. John visitor. We hope you enjoy this year’s donkey calendar!

This is a labor of love on a very small island where resources are few and costly. The animals benefit from your patronage and support. All of the horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, cats and dogs are either rescues or were no longer wanted by their previous owners. Carolina Corral has been in existence since 1994 having saved the lives of many animals and offering them to others to come and enjoy. The work has not gotten any easier, although the needs are the same. I do my best to provide for them a good home, giving them the care they need.
