Home for domestic animals in need on the beautiful island of St. John.
Welcome to Carolina Corral!
My latest effort is to send Nikita aka Miss Tequila back statesside where she can show off her moves. She needs av type of rehabilitation I’m unable to offer plus she eats a whole lot more than most everyone else. The corral has been carrying her since I got her in 2015. At that time she was skinny and pregnant, although her former owners didn’t realize it. Before the huricanes she was able to be ridden on the trails, but not with a guest aboard. After the storms she forgot much of her training including how to except a saddle. But, at 16 she still has a LOT of get up and go in her. I’d need your help to see how we can direct it towards something she enjoys. First stop will be Aiken,SC for rehab then hopefully to a trainer who understands her needs.
One Hour Guided Horseback along the shoreline of Coral Bay. This is not a beach ride due to Coral Bay being mostly beautiful rocky shorelines and mangroves. They will be in the afternoons only at 3:30 and 5pm, Monday – Friday. Closed toed shoes and long pants required. No electronic devices allowed on the rides as we may at one point be in the water. Weight limit is 240#
Other activities include helping With the Morning Feed at 8:30am, Monday – Friday. $20 donation each participant
I’m also offering private tours of the corral Monday – Friday mornings at 10am for up to five people. Cost is $100, each additional person is $20 donation. Get up close with the horses, sheep, goats, donkeys, cats, dogs and a hog who call the corral home. All were either rescued out of the wild or unwanted by their previous owner. Hear their stories and meet Ya Ya the rescued young ram and his friends Radar and Gunnar. Get to know beautiful Nikita a former race horse, granddaughter of Seattle Slew and nosey Dustin, the half draft horse/palomino pony accidental mating in the pasture.
You can reserve a spot online via the Book Now button on this page.
Public tours available at 11am Monday – Friday for $20 donation each visitor. Reserve a spot online via the Book Now button on this page or call 340-693-5778 if 11am doesn’t work for you!
Monday – Friday at 1pm participate in the Daily Donkey which consists of three fun events with the donkeys leading them in sack race, obstacle course and pole bending. Cost is $35 per participant. Great fun for the whole family!
All activities are bookable online via the Book Now button on this page or call 340-693-5778 to pay with either Venmo or PayPal. I accept cash and checks as well.
I’m pleased to offer this year’s 2022 St. John Donkey Calendar comprised of photographs from visitors who love the donkeys as much as I do. I pray it can be a blessing on your wall or to a friend. Again thank you for your support!!
This is a labor of love on a very small island where resources are few and costly. The animals benefit from your patronage and support. All of the horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, cats, dogs, and hog are either rescues or were no longer wanted by their previous owners. I do my best to provide for them a good home, giving them the care they deserve.
If considering a donation you can do so through:
1) The “Donate Now” button on this page. 2) Paypal via the email email@example.com 3) Venmo @ Donkeydana, (I have a chicken on my shoulder.) Last 4 digits of phone is 9622. 4) GoFundMe campaign “Large Animal Care on St John, Virgin Islands”. 5) Or by check to: The Carolina Corral 16133 Spring Garden, St. John, VI 00830.
With all that has happened and the progress made toward restoration after the hurricanes and now this pandemic, most people agree this is still a beautiful place to live and visit.
